A pop-up says your computer is infected and asks you to call a number? This is often a fake tech-support scam.
Warning signs
A large phone number, artificial urgency, remote-access requests or immediate payment demands are classic clues. Close the page and never install software suggested by the caller.
What to do
Contact a trusted technician through an independent channel. If you installed a tool, remove it, change your passwords and monitor your accounts.
